[ideas] A Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Shop in T.O.?
Lulu and Mooky's — NYC
I love Toronto... but why are we so SLOW to catch onto trends? I know, I know. The liquid nitrogen fad is sooo 2002... but STILL. I want to be able to walk into an ice cream shop, pick from a selection of flavours in colourful test tubes and get 2 phatass scoops of liquid nitrogen ice cream to-go, damnit! Is this too much to ask for?! And no, I am NOT interested in spending $11 for the liquid nitrogen dessert served at Colborne Lane.... I want a REAL ice cream shop experience. The kind of experience that involves sticky lips and chatting on patios and hawt summer nights and you know what I mean, maaaaaaan. Woe is exasperated me. You? NYC & CHI-TOWN, I'M JEALOUS.

Ok I need to go here asap - your pic makes it look like a dream. There must be a Polar Express that will take me there now.
ReplyDeleteActually Paulina, I've only tried one flavour of liquid nitrogen ice cream: VANILLA. It was okay... but hard to describe. It definitely tasted SCIENTIFIC. Funky, if you will. But it sucks that I can't just go to a place here in TO to try a whole buncha different flavours. DREAMMMMMYYYYYY....
ReplyDeleteI`ve heard of a place through friends called the cream brewery. I beleive their website is still under construction www.thecreambrewery.ca . I know that they have hosted a few corporate events at Rogers Communication.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, thanks for the link! I wonder where their 1st location will be...? And if they've served liquid nitrogen ice cream at these corporate events..... I might be inclined to crash these events.
ReplyDeleteMy friend works at Rogers. For their corporate summer bbq they hired these guys. From what I`ve heard you pick a base, flavour, and mix-in and in under a minute you got yourself ice cream. I`ve been to Wicker`s Park and tried Icream. Cool concept but the flavour was too artificial for me. My friend swears that the cream brewery is the best ice cream he`s ever had, and he`s been to Icream too. I`ve emailed them to host my sisters wedding, I hope I get a reply back.
ReplyDeleteDannnng... I'm dying to try Cream Brewery now! Hope they do contact you back and host your sister's wedding! I actually haven't tried iCream in Chi-town... wasn't craving it at the time. But the liquid nitrogen ice cream at Lulu and Mooky's tasted artificial too. Have you tried any other liquid nitrogen ice cream in Toronto? (i.e. Colborne Lane?)
ReplyDeletePS. Just have to put it out there that I posted this topic on Chowhound and the administrators deleted it. $%&# censorship! How else are we to discuss new food-y ideas? BLEHh.
