Kinder Joy vs. Kinder Surprise

kinderindia

While in India last May, my friend Dipna kept telling me it was an absolute must to try these Kinder Joys. So I did. Ever since, I can't stop dreaming 'bout 'em. Kinder Joy = 2 crispy mini Ferrero Rocher-like eggs (filled with smooth, hazelnutty chocolate), both engulfed in a pool of white chocolate and eaten with a mini spoon. Kinder Surprise = 1 hollow (crappy-tasting) milk & white chocolate egg (NO FUN!!!). Both products are manufactured by the Italian company, Ferrero. Haven't seen Kinder Joys here in TO though, have you??!

These eggs were banned in US and other countries
They mix edibles and toys with tiny part(dangerous to children)That s a no no.said Rosa, the candy blogger.(ZOMG Candy)so just settle on a Ferrero Rocher if you are dreaming of K Joy.
I will have F R anytime of the day.Hmmmmm. you make me crave for one now....just focusing on the pic.

  2. I knew they were banned in the US, but I didn't know of any other countries that banned them. A Ferrero Rocher will not suffice for my Kinder Joy craving. Those mini eggs were the perfect size, shape and texture! I'm not a big fan of the (wafer-y) outer shell of Ferrero Rochers.

  3. I HATE KinderJoy! Ever since they replaced Kinder Surprise I've stopped buying them. Kinder Joy ruins the effect of the toy "hatching" from the egg and it really is no fun at all. In fact, i rather much enjoy that "crappy tasting" egg shell (it's delicious actually) than that bird dropping you find in Kinder Joy. Many of us grew up with kinder surprise and we use to trade those tiny egglets you find in the kinder surprise, in hope of getting a better toy. you cant do that with kinder joy thats why it ruins the fun.

^ You're funny. I am a kinder fan and been one since I was 2 years old. I still am now, and ever since I had tried kinder joy down in Barcelona around 11 years ago I long for eating another one to this day. Kinder joy is the best kinder I had ever discovered, and other than the fact that it give crappy toys, the toys I get from kinder surprise nowadays are not the same as they were before. I remembered they came in much smaller pieces so it was more of a challenge to put together, now THAT'S something to complain about. What you call "bird droppings" is the best kinder recipe you could ever have, and especially all the mixtures of flavours including the wafer. And you really get something out of that rather than eating a normal kinder egg. Folks, if you haven't ever tried Kinder Joy and want to know what it tastes like, it tastes just like the kinder egg itself of course! Only accept it's in a nice creamy, fudge texture and the flavour melts in your mouth. it's almost like a tiny bowl of ice cream accept instead it's fudge, you scoop it with the spoon it comes with and eat away!

^ You're even funnier. part of the fun in having a kinder surprise toy is putting the parts together, so kids get a sense of achievement at the end. I remember my younger brother was so proud of the toy "raft" he assembled from the egg that he took it to the pool to test it out. Whether kinder joy is the best tasting kinder is up to individuals to decide. i have tasted both and i still prefer surprise, because joy is way too creamy for my taste. there are plenty of good chocolates out there that are better than the kinders, but the reason we love them is the fun of having a toy "hatch" out from an egg. Where's the fun/cuteness in peeling off a plastic seal to discover a surprise?

and to Miss Pascual, 2 words: Photo Bias.

Photo bias? I don't think so. I explained why I enjoyed Kinder Joy so much better than Kinder Surprise. Why would there be any need to even attempt to take beautiful foodtography of a product (in this case, Kinder Surprise) I don't even like?

  8. I've not tried Kinder Joy, but it seems to have lost the fun of Kinder Surprise! We are collecting the disney and marvel figures at the moment and our daughter Elsa is really loving the kinder egg fun!

  9. @C Kone: Thanks for your comment. That's true, they're two totally different concepts. Hence the fact that Kinder Joy isn't called Kinder Surprise. ;) Have fun collecting!

  11. Though the chocolate inside the joy looks like crap.

  12. Both good, Kinder suprise was clearly superior. But they did mess up the toys. They used to be actual collectible type things or actually interestint to build. This got screwed up for sure.

  13. Lots of idiots here I see. Look, I'm not debating which one is better overall, but to say that kinder surprise tastes crappy is plain and simple retarded. In fact, kinder surprise is the best chocolate I have taste in my 25 years of life. Anyway kinder joy cream and the cereals are great too, one of the best things I have put in my mouth. Hard to say which one is better overall. Another thing that bothers me are the toys... kinder surprise used to have great toys, really great for collections, now they are crap, low quality, simplistic, ugly...
